     Keep your wicks trimmed to the ideal length, we recommend about a 1/4" to prevent soot buildup and ensure a consistently beautiful flame. Sometimes, while burning a candle, a "mushroom" will occur at the tip of the wick. Carbon can buildup inside this mushroom which causes soot. Make sure to trim the wick EVERY TIME before you light the candle.
